Welcome to O’Brien Farm

O’Brien Farm is a window into the history of a traditional Irish-Newfoundland Farm. An oasis of tranquility in the middle of the city, the farm’s accessible community gardens, forest trails and quiet garden spaces will appeal to visitors of all ages and skill levels. Our 31 acre farm blends history, heritage, agriculture and environmental stewardship. Our staff and volunteers are ready to help you explore a true hidden gem in St. John’s.

Whether one is motivated to grow their own food, raise bees or poultry or start a small farm, the O’Brien Farm and Learning Centre will be a community hub for hands-on educational programs encouraging learning about and sharing of practical knowledge and sustainable agriculture.

Guided Tours - Start your visit in the Interpretation Centre for tickets and information, and then explore historic Thimble Cottage, gardens, forests, and visit the Eight farms of the New Found Farmer program. At the Interpretive Centre you can check out a mobile tablet loaded with photos, interpretive information and audio recordings of Aly O’Brien to guide you around the farm.

General Parking is located in the lot above Thimble Cottage and the Interpretation Centre, with additional parking and accessible parking in front of Thimble Cottage.
