Join us for cake and a craic* in support of the O'Brien Farm Foundation!
On March 28, join us at Quidi Vidi Brewery for a delectable night of drinks and desserts in support of the O’Brien Farm Foundation. Tickets include a taster glass of beer and an entry into our dessert raffle alongside a delicious assortment of Irish-Newfoundland food, live music & more!
Doors open at 6pm.
All proceeds support environmental learning, cultural events, and local agriculture at O’Brien Farm. Together, we’re building Newfoundland’s next generation of farmers.

Echoes of Ireland: An Afternoon of Music and Poetry
Join us in celebrating St. Patrick's day with an intimate hour of music and poetry.
Come enjoy some beautiful music on the Celtic harp, with readings of Irish poetry and original work by our friends Agnes Walsh and Ed Kavanagh.

Find the Irish: A Whisky Tasting
In a sea of delicious whiskies, can you find the Irish?
Back by popular demand, join us on March 15 & 16 for a whisky tasting at O'Brien Farm, this time with an interactive twist! Spend the evening sampling and learning about a fine selection of 6 whiskies from around the world with friend of the farm and whisky connoisseur Steve Delaney. Then, put all your knowledge to the test and try to figure out which ones are Irish. Those who guess correctly will be entered into a draw for a prize.
Alongside lively conversation Steve's whisky expertise, tickets to this event include:
-A taster flight of 6 whiskies
-A piece of baguette

March is Irish Heritage Month, and it's the perfect time to come see what we're all about here at O'Brien Farm. Come learn about the O'Brien family in Thimble Cottage, and dive deep into our Irish farming heritage in our Interpretation Centre. Admission is by donation in support of our ongoing programs. Sundays at O'Brien Farm: Imbolc Celebration
❄️ Join us for the first Sunday at O'Brien Farm event of 2024!
This month, we're celebrating Imbolc, a Celtic calendar celebration marking the halfway point between the winter solstice and spring equinox. Come sit around the fire, bring a mug for some hot chocolate, and make the most of all the winter season has to offer.
At 1:00pm, join us for a guided hike around the farm to see what we get up to in the colder months, and what animals live around here in the winter! Snowshoes are recommended for this portion of the event. A small number of child-sized snowshoes (also suitable for adults for grip) are available for a small fee payable at the door. About the Kitchen Garden Cookery & Heritage School:
Sonia O’Keefe and Shona Stacey are the owners of the Kitchen Garden Cookery & Heritage School, a social enterprise focused on preserving and sharing traditional food and craft in Newfoundland and Labrador.
With over 20 years of experience in the food industry, Sonia started her career in Ireland on a 100-acre organic farm where she trained at Ballymaloe Cookery School. She co-founded Lighthouse Picnics, a top food destination in Canada. Shona, an artist, educator, and baker, is passionate about creating food and art inspired by nature. Together, the thrive to create an experience that feeds the soul.
Flower Foraging Workshop with Newfoundland Floral Design
Spend an afternoon outside at O’Brien Farm, and make a beautiful floral display with Kristyna Adamova of Newfoundland Floral Design.
In this two-hour workshop, Kristyna will lead you on a short foraging tour through the farm to gather some beautiful florals before helpful you make your very own beautiful seasonal floral display. A perfect touch to add your home this fall!

Award-winning, natural born florist, Kristyna Adamova tackles all floral needs from large custom Sympathy designs to mini hair pieces for summer weddings. She has created a unique floral environment: A creative online studio with onsite service. Newfoundland Floral Design is not just another florist - it’s a lifestyle. Being born in Prague, Czech republic, Kristyna brings her European flair to her new home in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Her mission is to help people reconnect with nature through the art of Floral Design. She seeks to help everyone understand why Newfoundland Floral Design exists by creating beautiful experiences inspired by mother nature.
NL Open Farm Day
O'Brien Farm will be open from 10am - 4pm on Open Farm Day, and we would love to see you! Come explore our 200-year old cottage, take a walk through our trails, and join us for some fun activities in our Interpretation Centre.

Outdoor Cooking Workshop - Lughnasadh
Spend an afternoon cooking in the great outdoors!
Help us celebrate the Gaelic festival Lughnasadh, and join us on August 6 from 12:00 - 3:00pm for an Outdoor Cooking workshop in partnership with the wonderful folks at the Kitchen Garden Cookery & Heritage School. Take a short hike through our trails, sit around a campfire, and help make a delicious meal.
About Lughnasadh:
Lughnasa is a Gaelic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season. It is a celebration and offering of the first new foods of the season and involves the making of the meal and sharing it together. Traditionally, grains were gathered to make the bread, fields of corn were cut, blueberries and blackberries were picked for Pies.
The Celebration is one of the Four Celtic Fire Festivals. Lughnasa occurs during the week of the Full Moon in August. It is a Celebration and appreciation for the beautiful foods from the earth.
Our Menu will include:

~ Fraughan Pie( Wild Blueberry Pie) & Cobbler
