Meet Our New Found Farmers
Atlantic Goats
An Engineer by profession, Issac Adejuwon breeds and produces quality goat meat locally to meet growing market demand and truly believes in improving the food security of the province by producing and utilizing more goods manufactured within the province itself.
La Petite Ferme
La Petite Ferme is a 1/4 acre vegetable farm operated at O'Brien Farm. At La Petite Ferme almost everything is done by hand. I use only natural fertilizers, mostly compost. For controlling bugs and diseases, I use physical barriers or products that comply with current organic standards. I also use techniques that preserve soil health and reduce erosion (reduced tilling, cover crops and biodegradable mulches). I use several different varieties you won't find in the stores and they are packed with vitamins because they're right from the field to your plate!
McNiven’s Fresh Produce
McNiven's Fresh Produce has been in operation at the O'Brien Farm since 2022. We grow all sorts of root vegetables and fresh greens and sell them at the St. John's Farmers Market and to Restaurants in St. John's. All our products are grown organically and we incorporate regenerative principles like cover cropping into our crop rotations.
Patchwork Farm
From amaranth to zinnia, Patchwork Flower Farm is bringing bright blooms to the foggiest city in Canada!
Heather is an artist, educator and prairie transplant, who aims to promote sustainability within the local floral industry, and to expand on what bouquet materials we grow here on the island.
The name Patchwork is inspired by Heather’s love of quilting, and the idea that with a bit of work and creativity, you can make something beautiful out of the materials that you have.
Offerings for 2024 will include bouquet subscriptions and workshops!
